IVF Injection Guidance

We understand that self-management of IVF drugs can be a daunting thought, as these are usually subcutaneous injections  - which are shots of medication administered with a small needle under the skin.

The injections site is usually the stomach,  thigh or upper arm, and we want our patients to feel prepared, comfortable and safe administering their IVF injections at home.

Whilst everybody’s prescriptions for IVF are different, the process for administering the medications is similar. When you are ready to start your fertility treatment we will provide medication and book you an online  ‘drugs’ appointment’ , where one of our clinical team will go through how to administer medication and answer any question you may have. Using a virtual appointment on screen, means we can visually demonstrate to you on screen how to use your drugs.

5 helpful tips before you start

1. Think about your environment – try and locate yourself somewhere you will not be interrupted

2. Get your space ready - a clean, flat surface is best

3. Have your sharps bins near to you

4. Wash your hands thoroughly

5. Prepare your medications - have everything you need within reach

Our step by step tutorials are designed to help you. Please see our list of medications below.
