The new online web portal is designed to connect our patients to information about their IVF journey more than ever before, and give people more access and oversight of their care at a time that is convenient to them.

This exciting development has been introduced to enhance patient experience and provide a more digital and interactive platform for the future. 

What is the patient portal?

The Patient Portal is a new free digital platform that invites our patients to stay connected to their fertility care journey with us.

By registering to use the patient portal, Fertility patients will have access to their care and treatment information and will soon be able to communicate easily and securely with us, enhancing their Hewitt Centre experience. The Portal can be opened on a desktop, tablet or mobile phone, meaning that patients can stay connected to their care on the go.

The portal is very intuitive and user-friendly. Using digital platforms like patient portals in a healthcare environment is considered very much 'the norm ' these days, and our portal has been co-designed and developed with the end user in mind, so patients will find this a valuable and easy-to-use tool. 

What are the benefits?

The Patient Portal allows patients to see documents relating to their care like treatment plans, letters and appointments - and a personalised calendar, reminding you when to take medication.

We will shortly be introducing a Hewitt Chat function that will mean patients can safely and securely communicate with our clinical team via a messenger type gateway.

We are also developing a secure platform where patients can make payments for medication and treatment (self-funded care) and receive receipts through the portal.

Is my information safe and secure? 

The patient portal system meets our Trust web security requirements and policies whilst allowing you to visit your personalised health information securely.  The portal is individually password protected, and all messages are encrypted (put into a code) to ensure security. Only people with permission to access your care records and our staff at the Hewitt Centre can view your information. 

How do I begin using the portal? 

  • New patients are automatically invited to register

If you have been accepted for Fertility Treatment either as an NHS patient or private/self-funded patient, you will be invited by email to register for the patient portal before you attend for your first appointment. The email will provide a link for patients to follow and register/ log in. If you can’t see the email in your inbox, please check spam /junk folders).

  • We welcome existing patients too

If you are an existing patient who has already started their care, we can still add you as a user by sending you a secure link to register. Please email us at hewitt.centre@lwh.nhs.uk

Will the portal alert me about news or updates? 

Yes, you will receive push notification messages for new appointments or significant updates – we will alert you of these via email. We may also send short surveys or questionnaires via the portal gateway so that we can gain feedback about your experiences of care.

What if I forget my password and login details? 

If you forget your password, click ‘forgot password?’ on the login page and then type in your email address to be sent a reset link. 

What do I do if I experience portal problems? 

If you are experiencing any technical issues accessing the patient portal, in the first instance, please clear your cache and history or try accessing using a different browser.  If the problems continue or you need additional help and support, please get in touch with us at hewitt.centre@lwh.nhs.uk
